Provisional Delivery of the 3rd Gas-Fired Unit at Semnan Power Plant

On Sunday, January 21, 2024, the project client notified MAPNA Power Plants Construction and Development (MD1) of provisional delivery of the 3rd gas-fired unit at Semnan Power Plant.

Semnan Gas-Fired Power Plant Project (SGFPPP) features two MAP 2B gas turbines, each generating 183 MW of power (adding up to 366 MW) under ISO conditions. The power plant is located on Semnan-Damghan Road, 10 km from Semnan. The project was undertaken for Saman-Semnan Power Plant Generation Company as the client with Niroo Consulting Engineers acting as the project consultant.

Semnan Power Plant substation has a capacity of 400 kV with engineering works, construction work, and supplying of equipment defined within the scope of work for the client.

MD1 started the construction work for this project on January 14, 2009 and the first unit for this power plant was synchronized two year later in 2011.

The work for the third and fourth units of the project which consisted of equipment procurement, design and engineering services, as well as commissioning was assigned under a contract made with the client in January 2022. The third unit of the power plant was synchronized to the national power grid in July 2022 and the fourth unit in March 2023.

It is important to note that upon provisional delivery of this unit, MD1 has now provisionally delivered a total number of 150 units providing a capacity of 20,233 MW.
